SCHOOL PROGRAMS

As an organization with an unwavering dedication to bettering our communities and providing a brighter future for our children, IDCC facilitates various programs that are committed to helping children succeed at home, at school, and in life.
IDCC offers school-based mental health services for children, adolescents and families throughout Brooklyn. Services are available in grades K-12, for children who may have emotional and/or behavioral challenges.
At IDCC, we understand the importance of supporting children and adolescents in their educational journey. Our school-based mental health services are designed to provide comprehensive support to students, families, and educators.
Through our program, we offer a range of services for children in grades K-12 who may be facing emotional and/or behavioral challenges. Our dedicated team of mental health professionals collaborates closely with schools to deliver tailored interventions and support that address the unique needs of each student.
Our services may include individual counseling, group therapy, crisis intervention, behavior management, and collaboration with teachers and other school staff. By working together with schools and families, we aim to create a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes positive mental health, academic success, and overall well-being.
At IDCC, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive academically and emotionally. Through our school-based mental health services, we strive to empower students, strengthen their resilience, and help them reach their full potential.
In-School Clinics
The New York State Office of Mental Health has licensed Interborough to provide therapy in schools throughout Brooklyn. In institutions that have In-School Clinics, the therapist provides individual and group therapy, collateral work with parents, crisis intervention and consultation with teachers.
At Interborough, we are proud to offer in-school clinics that provide vital mental health services to students in schools across Brooklyn. Our licensed therapists work directly within these educational settings to deliver a range of comprehensive services.
In our in-school clinics, our therapists provide individual and group therapy to students, addressing their unique emotional and behavioral needs. We also recognize the importance of involving parents in the therapeutic process, and our therapists offer collateral work with parents to ensure a holistic approach to supporting the student’s well-being.
Additionally, our in-school clinics offer crisis intervention services, ensuring that students have immediate access to support during challenging times. Our therapists also collaborate with teachers and school staff, providing consultation and guidance to promote a supportive and inclusive school environment.
By offering therapy within the school setting, we aim to eliminate barriers to accessing mental health services and provide convenient and accessible support to students. We are dedicated to improving the mental health and overall well-being of students, fostering resilience, and promoting academic success.

School Response Teams
School Response Teams are one of Interborough’s prominent programs in schools. Schools are supplied with a mental health professional team which consists of a supervisor, a social worker and a family advocate.
Each team provides assessments on referred students, referrals to community based agencies, and crisis intervention. Additionally, team members are trained to assist with social services such as housing, medical insurance and immigration issues. The goal of the program is to reduce referrals to hospitals and provide services to students and their families in their community.
Interborough’s School Response Teams are a vital component of our commitment to supporting the mental health and well-being of students in schools. Each School Response Team comprises a dedicated group of professionals, including a supervisor, a social worker, and a family advocate, who work collaboratively to provide comprehensive care and support.
These teams play a crucial role in assessing referred students and identifying their specific needs. They also facilitate referrals to community-based agencies, ensuring that students receive the appropriate resources and services to address their mental health concerns. In times of crisis, the School Response Teams provide immediate intervention and support to students, helping to prevent unnecessary hospital referrals.
Furthermore, the team members are well-versed in navigating social services, assisting families with various challenges such as housing, medical insurance, and immigration issues. By addressing these broader social determinants of health, the School Response Teams strive to create a supportive environment where students can thrive academically and emotionally within their own community.
Interborough’s School Response Teams are dedicated to reducing barriers to mental health care, promoting early intervention, and empowering students and their families to access the support they need to succeed.
